The brief
Delivering a world-class defence facility ahead of schedule
The Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) covers 11 hectares in Brisbane's Redbank industrial area. It is the regional hub for international defence contractor Rheinmetall, managing the delivery of vehicles for the Australian Army and supporting research and development programs.
A site this large needed clear communication and careful planning, and the civil construction was complex enough to call for experienced surveying professionals. The client needed precise engineering surveys throughout, and they met their deadline early.
How we did it
Senior surveyors who work to the program
Surveyors with more than 20 years of high-level, international construction experience led the work, with in-depth knowledge of how civil works are sequenced and how design intent is built. They knew what delay and rework cost a contractor, so they planned the survey around keeping the program moving. For the client, that meant a survey team they could rely on to work to their complex program.
Continuity across the build
UAV surveys supported the bulk earthworks phase across the 11-hectare site, and GNSS machine control kept us involved through most of the phases that followed. Staying with the project this way meant each phase’s survey information carried into the next, giving the client one consistent reference from the first earthworks onward.
Consistent information for every trade
We supported both the principal contractor and the sub-contractors, so each worked from the same survey information. On a project of this size, that kept all contractors aligned through clear lines of communication.
