Survey Control, Mapping, Coordinates and Datum
Did you know that Eastern Australia is moving northwards at a rate of several centimetres per year?
Surveyors nowadays use Global Navigational Satellite Systems (GNSS) technology to measure over very long distances. Using static methodologies it can be several 100km to the centimetre level.
Surveyors use their knowledge of geodesy (measurement on the earth) in variety of ways which can assist with interpreting mapping datum’s and projections to a local plane or for construction project.
For large areas of Mapping or Survey Control Land Solution can perform surveys using a variety of techniques over large areas to the ICSM Standard Guideline for Control Surveys by GNSS.
Other application of Datum and Coordinates is our Digital Cadastral Data Base (DCDB) improvement work. These projects input survey plan dimensions via customised software and apply survey control to control marks entered from survey plans to adjust the survey model to the mapping datum. This can be useful for a variety of large scale projects where an improved digital representation of property boundaries is required for design, maintenance or construction.
