Redcliffe Sewage Plant Station
Located in the suburb of Clontarf on the Redcliffe Peninsula, the Redcliffe Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), services residents and businesses from the suburbs of Rothwell, Kippa-Ring, Redcliffe, Clontarf, Scarborough, Margate and Woody Point. In 1959 Redcliffe Sewage Plant Station was built to service these suburbs and in recent times a proposed rehabilitation of the Redcliffe STP aims to renew its assets to cater for the capacity of 70,000 residents, servicing and performance whilst meeting environmental obligations until 2026.
Our client were awarded the works to design and construct replacement of the pumps pipe work at Redcliffe Sewage Plant Station (SPS001). This requirement incorporated the location of the flanges through the centre wall in the bottom of the well, the discharge rising main flange through the top of the well and the internal walls of the pump well. Land Solution Australia were engaged by their client to provide As-con surveying requirements for ADAC to pick up measurements for internal walls and platform of the pump well above ground level and 3D laser scanning of Redcliffe Sewage Plant Station.
Recommendation of a smart solution
The Redcliffe Sewage Plant Station project allowed Land Solution Australia the opportunity to collaborate with their client and to provide them with a 3d model of the pump well on MGA datum that successfully met their needs. By supplying point clouds and modelling using 3D laser scans in a confined and limited access environment, our client we were able to verify precise measurements for other items and mitigate risks of features that may not have been considered in the original brief without the need to access the confines of the sewerage pump well.
Premium service delivery
Our Registered Surveyor undertook a field 3D laser scanning to measure the existing pump well and pipe work of Redcliffe Sewage Plant Station, establish site control MGA datum and make internal measurements of top platform of pump well as well as to connect the scanned data. Calculations of the MGA datum, reductions of field data for MGA site control, exporting the data and forwarding to produce a 3d model were also undertaken. On completion our surveyor supplied a highly detailed point cloud and 3d model of the existing pump well and pipe work for their client. This was a far superior deliverable in them of detail, timeframe and cost than they experienced previously.
